Northern Colorado Medical Center of the Rockies and McKee Medical Center in Loveland Ranks in Top 5

Northern Colorado Medical Center of the Rockies and McKee Medical Center in Loveland have been ranked among the top 5 percent in the country for emergency care, two of only four hospitals in the state of Colorado to receive such rankings, according to a news release.

HealthGrades has recognized both Medical Center of the Rockies and Mckee Medical Center in Loveland with its 2011 Emergency Medicine Excellence Award, which recognizes the top 5 percent of acute care hospitals nationwide based on quality of care provided to patients in 12 areas including heart attacks and strokes, the release stated.

“It is flattering to receive such high praise from a third party as well-known as HealthGrades,” says Rick Sutton, CEO of NCMC in the release. “Our community has always been supportive of our hospital and hopefully it will take as much pride in this recognition as we take in providing excellent patient care.”

Four hospitals in Colorado were named, and Medical Center of the Rockies and McKee in Loveland were the only two in Northern Colorado to receive the designation. The two facilities also received the 2011 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence from HealthGrades.

HealthGrades analyzes nearly 5,000 hospitals annually, comparing actual performance to predicted performance for specific patient outcomes, mortality or major complications, the release stated.

“These distinctions reflect the high quality of care throughout our hospitals,” says Marilyn Schock, chief executive officer of McKee Medical Center in the release. “Many of our admissions begin with a trip to the emergency department and these achievements show that high-quality care continues at every stage of their health care journey.”
