Fort Collins Travel Guide
I am a self-proclaimed almost expert traveler and Realtor. I myself have traveled to over 50 countries and any chance when I am not selling real estate I am out exploring this great, big, beautiful world. I live in a pretty cute, quintessential small town that I feel gets a lot of write ups on its own, so I thought I would write a mini Fort Collins Travel Guide.
Old Town Fort Collins
The walkable Old Town Fort Collins is as charming and friendly as ever, full of independent retailers. Buy local I always say. There are hardly any chains in Old Town. It definitely keeps that small town feel alive. As I’m sure you already know about the Disney connection we do not need to talk about it here. Fort Collins is also home to Colorado State University, Go Rams! We also have some of the best craft beer in the country. Every year in June we have a Colorado Brewfest that showcases all the top local craft beer and breweries in most of Colorado. It’s a good time! Fort Collins also has a great live music scene every night of the week. Music fans should consider visiting in mid-August for NewWestFest, a free festival featuring tons of emerging Colorado talent.
Where To Stay in Old Town Fort Collins:
$$ The Armstrong Hotel just completed a lovely renovation and the boutique hotel is fantastic. Since opening in 1923, the hotel housed the first chapter of the American Automobile Association and was used as an army barracks during World War II.
$$$ The Elizabeth Hotel is a Marriott Autograph Collection property that opened in 2017 and it’s a music lover’s dream. All rooms have a Crosley record player. There’s often live music at the Sunset Lounge open-air rooftop bar and at Magic Rat.
What To Do in Fort Collins:
The shopping is excellent in Old Town. Rustic Thread is my favorite shop in Old Town featuring fun and quirky gifts. The Cupboard is also always a fun browse as there is so many kitchen and houseware gadgets to buy for your new Fort Collins home.
As Colorado’s craft beer capital, you have to visit at least a few of the 26 breweries in Fort Collins. New Belgium is the biggest, offering a 90-minute brewery tour with beer sampling. Sign up for the free tour well before your visit though as they usually fill up fast. For small-batch breweries that you won’t find at home, Funkwerks, Snowbank and Gilded Goat always have new beers on tap. If beer’s not really your thing, there’s also great hard cider and kombucha.
Where To Eat in Fort Collins:
Start your day with the Silver Grill Cafe known for their giant cinnamon rolls. It has been a staple in Old Town Fort Collins since 1933.
Ginger and Baker is great any time of day, with a market, bakery, cafe, rooftop bar and upscale restaurant all under one roof. They’re best known for their pies. The Cache upstairs has unique dishes like bourbon-blueberry glazed pork belly and duck arancini.
The Emporium Kitchen and Wine Market at The Elizabeth is another great choice for dinner. The French traditional dishes with classic technique and local Colorado flavor are awesome.
As you can see Fort Collins has a lot to offer from my Fort Collins Travel Guide. If you would like to meet me for a coffee at a local coffee shop for more information about buying or selling a home in Fort Collins or Northern Colorado I would love to do so.
