Most people or families when relocating to a new city look for many things in that new city. It could be quality of life, affordable real estate, jobs, and of course schools for their children. Many people move to Fort Collins with families and one of the most important factors in determining a neighborhood to live in is the schools. As I drive my Fort Collins relocation clients around I find they love the charm and character of Old Town, being able to walk to shops and restaurants, but when it comes down to it a high quality education as well as amenities usually win out. Sometimes you need to compromise. Most of the newer neighborhoods in Southeast Fort Collins offer great schools, neighborhood parks, community pools, tennis courts and an overall sense of community with neighborhoods with families just like their own. A few of these neighborhoods include Fossil Lake Ranch, Observatory Village, English Ranch, Willow Springs, Huntington Hills, Westchase, Stetson Creek, Harvest Park, Kechter Farm, and Woodland Park Estates to name a few.
Fort Collins Schools for the most part are School of Choice though in more recent times these neighborhood schools have been closed to just that specific neighborhoods.
Zach Elementary and Neighborhood Schools
A couple of neighborhood only schools include Fossil Lake Ranch and Observatory Village who go to Zach Elementary, Kinard Middle School and Fossil Ridge High School. Bethke Elementary has closed its school as well and is now just a neighborhood school. One of the top high schools in Fort Collins is Fossil Ridge High School is very popular as well and for the most part you need to live within the Fossil Ridge High School zone in order to go to that school. This is very important information when choosing where to purchase Fort Collins real estate and a good Fort Collins Realtor such as myself will be able to help you sift through some of the intricacies of it.
Finding a home in a great Fort Collins neighborhood is harder than finding a Fort Collins schools as most Fort Collins schools are pretty good overall. We do have many differing styles and each school offers something different for each individual. Here is a list of the schools in Fort Collins. You can also go to www.schoolmatters.com to find test scores, reviews from parents and so forth. It is best to take advice from others with a grain of salt as they all have their own objectives, coworkers, neighbors, people on the street, but do your research.
