Fort Collins Homes Are Doing Well Despite What You May Hear in The News

Serratoga Falls Fort Collins Homes For SaleIt’s too early to say the Northern Colorado economy has turned a corner, but hopeful signs are starting to sprout.

Net taxable sales in Fort Collins increased 8 percent in October and 7.1 percent in September after several months of moderate growth. Sales tax receipts in Loveland increased by 4.4 percent in October and and 3.9 percent in September.

Jobs in Larimer County

The total number of jobs in Larimer County has risen – slowly, to be sure – for each of the past seven months, according to seasonally adjusted statistics from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

All of these positive signs carry caveats, obviously. The improved retail sales figures are based on comparisons to depressed numbers from a year ago. And the region’s employment base still is well off its 2008 peak.

Fort Collins-Loveland Area Poised to Bounce Back from the Recession

But it’s good to see positive signs after months of struggle. And those signs also suggest that the Fort Collins-Loveland area is better poised to bounce back from the Great Recession than most communities.

There certainly are risks ahead. If the nation slips into a double-dip recession, Northern Colorado will suffer. And because the area is more reliant than most on government employment, government spending cuts will impact both the employment picture and consumer spending.

Northern Colorado Continues To Outpace the Nation in Recovery

All said, Northern Colorado has done a better job of weathering the economic downturn than much of the nation. And several factors – including a vibrant entrepreneurial class and an educated work force – suggest our economy will continue to outpace the nation in a recovery.

Fort Collins Home sales should see a rebound as well.

With increasing Fort Collins home sales on the horizon, the lowest interest rates ever, now is the best time to move-up, move-down, investment properties in Fort Collins and relocation to Fort Collins.
